At 90.9 The Lion Radio (KSLU), music isn’t just what you hear – it is also what you see. Broadcasting from Cardinal Newman Hall on the campus of Southeastern Louisiana University, The Lion Radio has been the pulse of classic rock in Hammond since 1974. Now, thanks to Record Roots, their studio is as visually striking as the music they play.
It all started with a simple search for a way to display a few favorite albums. Like many vinyl enthusiasts, the station’s manager had been looking for an attractive solution to showcase records in their office. "I first saw the wall display as an ad on social media,” they recalled. “I don’t remember if it was Facebook or Instagram, but it caught my attention right away."
Initially, the station opted for a couple of plastic wall frames. While these did the job, they were expensive and didn’t offer the aesthetic appeal or versatility that was really needed for a larger display. It wasn’t until more ads for Record Roots products popped up that they had the idea to take their vinyl display to the next level – this time, for the front studio where it would be seen by everyone walking through the station.
"I really liked the clean lines of the wall display and the variety of products," the manager said. "You’ve clearly thought about what’s needed if you’re going to have a vinyl collection."
And that’s exactly what we aim for at Record Roots. Our displays are designed to showcase vinyl records in a way that not only protects the collection but also makes it easy to switch out album covers to keep things fresh. Whether you want to highlight a few albums or create an entire wall of music history, we’ve got you covered – literally.
At The Lion Radio, their display has become a real conversation starter. The studio features a glass wall opposite the record display, making it visible to everyone passing by in the hallway. “We’ve gotten several compliments on the display,” the manager shared. “It’s even spurred a discussion among a few of our student DJs about what album covers would make the perfect display.”
The fact that student DJs are debating their favorite albums to feature speaks volumes about the cultural impact vinyl still holds today. At Record Roots, we know that for many people, album art is just as iconic as the music itself. That’s why our expandable fabric frames are perfect for radio stations, collectors, or anyone who wants to turn their vinyl into an eye-catching display.
We’re thrilled to be a part of the creative energy at 90.9 The Lion Radio and to help them visually celebrate the music they’ve been spinning for decades. Whether you’re broadcasting to a campus or curating a collection in your own home, Record Roots makes it easy to showcase your vinyl collection with style and ease.
