While Record Roots frames are primarily designed to be displayed in a portrait orientation, some vinyl enthusiasts have successfully adapted them for horizontal display. If you’re considering this option, there are a few key things to keep in mind:

To hang the frames horizontally, customers have used pins inserted through the longer side of the frame. This method bypasses the need for the damage-free strips with metal clips that come standard with our frames, as those won’t work effectively in a horizontal orientation. However, be aware that this modification requires you to make small holes in the frame for the pins, which means it won’t be eligible for return as we can only sell totally new, unused products

If you’re confident in your DIY skills and comfortable with making permanent adjustments, this could be a viable solution for displaying your records horizontally.

Is there anything else I can do to fit these frames in my space?

If your space doesn’t accommodate the full height of the Record Roots frames, you might consider another popular adaptation. The frames, which are 2 wide by 4 high and designed to display 8 records, can be modified to fit your space by removing one or more of the bottom rows.

To do this, carefully cut under the strap that holds the records in place, using scissors. This will create a new bottom edge. However, the fabric edge will be loose after cutting, so you’ll need to secure it by sewing a hem or applying tape to prevent fraying. Using clear or black tape on the back of the frame, where it meets the wall, can result in a high-quality finish that remains hidden from view.

This method allows you to customize the height of the frame to fit your space while still displaying your favorite records in style.
